When I joined Labour in 1971 dissent was not just tolerated, it was celebrated as a sign of a party at ease with itself.

Now, it's no more 'big church', more follow the leader.

So, I'm heading off in search of shelter elsewhere.

A large number of Labour MPs didn't expect to get elected and know that they are unlikely to hold their seat next time. Threats about losing the whip are much less effctive in those circumstances.

Lots of them also know exactly why they got elected. And it was to change things for the better, not to compete with the Tories to be the most nasty.

Punishment leads to lying, cover-ups, people keeping their mouths shut - a sure way for the leader tto rightly mistrust those around him- fatally pooir leadership. Having a positive vision, inviting collaboration in achieving it, rewarding good performance- leading through reward…Starmer, Streeting and their ilk throw away the goodwill they came in on.

And Labour threw away the man whose economic policies were praised by Christine LaGarde. Hohn McDonell.

In favour of trying to make policies which have failed us for fifty years somehow start to work.

‘If something doesn’t work, keep doing it but harde’. Thanks, guys!

Having used this SEND system on behalf of someone in my family. The right to appeal is the only protections parents have when it comes to Council decisions. It is also a very stressful drawn out process. It’s designed to make you fight…or give up. 90% of those who fight have their cases upheld. Thats how clear cut they are. Central government cut council taxes by 40% over the years. Councils try to save money by prioritising money over special educational need. This is a legal right. Education isn’t a luxury for these children. What this govt want to do is to take away that right to save money. They can call it reform but it isn’t it’s a cut. They will say how great it’s going to be but in the end without those protections these children are more vulnerable.
