Nice summary. Reeves was in a no win situation . Badenoch's response made her appear a borderline sociopath imo.

Will, if you read Craig Venter’s book, my life, my genome, he opens with a visit to Washington where he meets a politician who greets him with the news that he is already well known for his scientific work. “Here we judge people by the quality of their enemies and, oh boy, do you have enemies.” Well, any slur by a Brexiteer is a mark of honour in my book.

I forwarded your NS article to Rachel Reeves with the suggestion that she abolish NI for both Employers and Employees and raise the Standard Rate of tax to 28%. As a pensioner that would increase my tax by 8% but it would reduce the tax on low earners and increase tax revenues sufficiently to enable the increased burden of benefits to be paid for. This proposal is not new. It was Richard Crossman, in Wilson’s 1964 government, who pointed out that if NI revenues were invested the government would own the complete stock of the London Stock Exchange within five years.
